LP – Vinyl

An LP, short for “Long Play,” is a type of vinyl record that typically contains a full-length album or a significant collection of tracks by a music artist. LPs are known for their larger size and longer playing time compared to other vinyl formats. They generally spin at 33 1/3 revolutions per minute (RPM) and are played on a turntable equipped with a tonearm and stylus.

Originally introduced in the 1940s, LPs became the primary format for albums during the mid-20th century, largely replacing earlier formats such as 78 RPM records. LPs typically have a diameter of 12 inches and can hold around 20 to 30 minutes of music on each side, though this can vary depending on factors like the mastering process and groove spacing.

LPs are cherished by audiophiles and music enthusiasts for their warm, analog sound quality and tangible connection to the music.
